It started with a conversation between Deana and me. She asked if I would be willing to shoot their engagement session in a location that involved rock climbing, something that Deana and Zane love to do. Did it sound crazy and a little challenging? Yes and Yes, and I was instantly up for it. We discussed wardrobe, hair and makeup- I advised Deana to go all out- and boy, did she. We met on a windy Sunday in May at Wissahickon Valley Trail in Fairmont Park in Philadelphia, PA. Deana showed up in a gorgeous peach gown from Nordstrom, professional makeup, gorgeous locks and HEELS. I still am in shock. I wore Toms and almost fell more times than I wish to share. Deana ROCKED her heels. (Zane was pretty cool too.) We hiked through lush foliage, fallen trees, and massive rocks. We made our way to Devil's Pool for some stunning shots just as dusk fell upon us. Deana and Zane are just so adorable together- you could tell by the way Zane helped Deana along wet, rocky paths (even though she didn't need an ounce of help) that they are just made for each other. I am beyond excited for their wedding next year in Philadelphia at the Curtis Center.
John and Amanda live in Philadelphia, are getting married in Philadelphia, so it only seemed fit, to have their engagement session in Philadelphia. I love shooting in Philly (yes, we're on a nickname basis now) because there is so much variety! We only walked a few blocks and I couldn't help but stop every couple of yards because there was something neat to shoot near. We started by Penn's Landing, found a couple of adorable side streets, in which we found an in-ground pool in the smallest little backyard, but no pool-hopping for us. We also visited a little bit of South Street and Society Hill. I cannot wait for John and Amanda's October wedding, so we can shoot in Philly again- but next time, they'll be married!

So many clients want digital files, and I get it... IF you are planning to do something with them. Let's face it, life gets busy, and after the wedding, wedding planning is soon filled with another task, hobby, or priority. Then there is choosing your favorite photos- it can be a daunting task when left with hundreds of digitals and no guidance from a professional who's well-versed in album design. You may have all of your digital files, but what do you have to show for it? The reality of it is, most people are so busy, and while they have good intentions to make an album, or have prints and canvases made, they just don't have the time.
It's important to have a wedding album... but not just a wedding album made on a consumer website, a *professional album.* A leather cover, thick pages, and great quality... quality that says 'this book is going to make it to my children's children' because photographs are precious. They capture a time in someone's lives that words could never explain and I think that every couple needs an heirloom to pass down and that deserves more than a skimpy book!
Here are some photographs of a recent wedding album from Kelly & Kevin's wedding at Barn on Bridge. Their wedding was so gorgeous it needed two blog posts, check them out here and here. I love the color of leather they chose, it's so vibrant and fun.
