The Hotel ML Wedding, Mount Laurel, NJ: Steve and Christy

I was so happy to welcome the start of wedding season with Steve and Christy at the Hotel ML in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.

Here's a few thoughts about their wedding:

1- Christy's new last name will be "Fox," and I love how they incorporated it on their wedding day!

2- Christy's family has a tradition of making chocolate chip cookies every day of the week. Rumor has it, that she brought some cookies to her and Steve's first date and this MAY be one of the many reasons they are married today. She even made some to share with her bridal party (and photographers!!) for her wedding day. Can I just comment and say- best tradition ever?!

3- There were so many GENUINE smiles all day long! Not just the bride and the groom, but they had the happiest parents and the most easy-going bridal party. The whole gang was up for anything and everything to help celebrate.

4- I hear there quite a few doctors in attendance which I'm sure made all of their guests feel safe to drop the hottest dance moves they had on the dance floor. All. Night. Long.

Columbus, NJ Engagement: Mike + Emily

As wedding season approaches, and my maternity leave comes to an end, I'm getting pumped up about getting back out and shooting.  Although Spring is officially here, I just had to share this dreamy Fall engagement session with Emily and Mike. I have to give the future groom all of the credit for finding this awesome location with the colorful foliage that all engaged couples dream of for their photos :) I am beyond excited to capture their big day in July!

My Life: A Photographer in Front of the Camera

At least once a year, I force myself (and my family) in front of a camera for our Christmas card photograph. It was especially important this year because of the sweet baby bump I'm rockin.' Oh, and it's so true, your second pregnancy is completely different from your first- so much less documenting, and so much less sleep!

I started the day by having my makeup professionally done by one of my favorite makeup artists- Christine Swope, I recommend her to EVERYONE- she's so talented. I really do believe that having your makeup done for any photo shoot will give you the confidence you need, and makeup artists have such a remarkable talent to bring out each person's natural beauty- it stands out in photos! I'm so glad I did it.

A fellow photographer and good friend, Danielle of DMotti Photography, captured my family in such a beautiful way. She has a great eye and captures light like nobody's business! Sometimes it can be hard to take the backseat and let someone else pick all of the locations and poses, and I'm so glad I didn't open my mouth- I wouldn't change a thing about how Danielle captured everything! I'm forever grateful for these photos!

The Waterfall, Claymont, DE Wedding: Tom + Heather

Tom and Heather were married early December- although it felt like early October! I met Heather and Tom last year at their snowy engagement session at Carousel Park in Delaware- take a look here. They are such a fun couple and so adorable together! When I found out I was pregnant this spring, Heather was one of the first people I told! Her wedding was the last of the 2015 wedding season and I didn't want to let her down. We came up with a plan to bring a second photographer (which is pretty standard) as well as a third photographer to take my place should I need to be whisked away to the hospital. You never know when babies will come and since I was 34 weeks pregnant, there was no room to play around, although I would have been in good hands- Heather and so many of her friends are nurses :) Turns out the day of her wedding I felt better than I normally did, and pretty much forgot I was pregnant! It was really awesome having the addition of two other fabulous primary photographers to get not one, but two additional perspectives (and a bunch of extra photos for Heather and Tom). We did all of the bridal party photos at gorgeous Gibraltar, a country estate home with garden areas and fun architecture. We were running out of time before the sun was due to set, but with such an awesome and cooperative bridal party, we were able to capture the amazing colors of the sun setting. Next we were off to a local attraction-  Santa's house, for some festive photos with Christmas lights. Lastly, we were off to the Waterfall in Claymont Delaware for their reception- the same place Heather's parents were married- how sweet! It was an unforgettable evening for Heather, Tom, and all of their guests as they danced the night away. I'm so happy I could be a part of it (and have their wedding completely edited and in their hands before the baby comes!)

My Life: Mom of a Robot on Halloween

My daughter is a toddler. Anyone who knows a toddler knows they can be highly opinionated and not easily coaxed into things (most times). I knew I wanted to handcraft a Halloween costume for her, and I wanted her to have some input, but of course, I wanted the final say. In the beginning of October, she wanted to be a bumble bee, and as the month went on, a dragon, a dinosaur, a "pumpkin face," aka jack-o-lantern, and lastly, a robot. Her desire to be a robot did not waver as I tried talking her into being a pumpkin face again (that costume looked much easier to make, and I wouldn't have to worry about her falling while trick-or-treating with a box around her). Well, she won, and a robot she was :)

The details- humor me

Medium Moving Box: Home Depot

Tulle skirt/Paint/Wooden Hearts: Handmade by me, tulle from JoAnn Fabric

Silver Bracelets: Dryer vent hose from Home Depot

Reconstructed Antenna: A red headband with hearts, wrapped in hot pink Duck Tape and tulle from JoAnn Fabric

Silver Shoes: Carter's

I hope one day she looks back at these photos and gives me some major mommy credit, until then, I can imagine myself sitting at the kitchen table at midnight, painting Styrofoam balls as planets, because let's be real- we'll do anything for our babes!

Knowlton Mansion, Philadelphia, PA Wedding: Carl + Julia

When I think of Carl and Julia, I think "pure romance." I know so much of their story, because over the course of wedding planning, I became super close with Julia- so I'm going to list some reasons why I think they have such an amazing story.

-They grew up in the same neighborhood. Their moms are best friends!

-When Carl proposed, he set up an elaborate scavenger hunt that involved their grade school teacher, multiple family members, and of course, a stunning diamond.

-While Carl was overseas serving in the Army as a pilot, he made sure to send Julia flowers every month on their anniversary.

-They both ended their wedding vows with the same sentence.

To sum it up, they are absolutely perfect for each other. Their rustic/bohemian wedding at Knowlton Mansion, was the culmination of their relationship and I think everyone in the room was so happy to see them reunited at last, after a long eleven months apart. Thank you Carl for your service and thanks to Carl AND Julia for being just absolutely adorable and hilarious.

Smithville Mansion, Mount Holly, NJ Engagement: Chris + Victoria

I've known Chris and Victoria for years- we've shot countless family sessions, and it was only a matter of time before this type of session was going to happen- their engagement session- and I couldn't be happier for them! They are the perfect match, along with their son, Aiden, they handle life with a toddler with a smile, and look amazing doing it. We headed to Smithville Mansion in Mount Holly and no matter how many times I've shot there, it never gets old. There are so many different spots around each corner, and it means something different to each couple. We were hoping to catch the fall foliage before it all came down, and luckily, we did! We were able to get some shots with Aiden before just focusing on the newly engaged couple. I'm so excited to be there to document Chris and Victoria's (and Aiden, too) big day next June!
